Christian Eriksen says he wishes his future could be determined»like in Football Manager» after failing to secure a move away from Tottenham.
The Denmark international, who scored Spurs’ opener into their 2-2 derby draw with Arsenal on Sunday, confessed during the summer that he was contemplating leaving the club this summer in order to»try something new».
Eriksen, that had been connected with a move to Real Madrid, will be at the final season of his contract and are liberated to signal a pre-contract agreement in January 1 with clubs.
«I wish I could pick just like in Soccer Manager, but unfortunately I can not,» Eriksen told Danish publication Ekstra Bladet.
When asked whether the comments he made concerning his future were a error, Eriksen said:»It was not. Nonetheless, it’s soccer and you never know what happens in football. Many items always come into play.
«For me it is not tricky to clean my head. I really don’t read much of what is written.
«And now I have been involved for several decades, in which there have been a number of rumours each year. Nonetheless, it’s apparent that it’s been a little more fierce this season since my contract is going to expire.
«I know a lot of people are thinking about where I need to perform with. That’s how it is. This is the way that it is at a club that is top if you’ve done nicely. There will always be rumours.»
