Christian Eriksen says that he wishes his future could be determined»like in Football Manager» after failing to secure a move away from Tottenham.
The Denmark international, who scored Spurs’ opener in their 2-2 derby draw with Arsenal on Sunday, confessed in the summer he was considering leaving the club in order to»try something new».
Eriksen, who had been connected with a transfer to Real Madrid, is at the final season of his contract and will be free to signal clubs on a pre-contract agreement from January 1.
«I wish I could decide just enjoy in Soccer Manager, but unfortunately I can’t,» Eriksen told Danish book Ekstra Bladet.
When asked if the remarks he made concerning his long life were a error, Eriksen stated:»It wasn’t. But it’s soccer and you don’t understand what happens in soccer. Many items always come into play.
«For me it isn’t difficult to clean my thoughts. I do not read much of what is written.
«And today I’ve been involved for many decades, where there have been several rumours every year. However, it’s clear that it has been fierce this season because my contract is going to expire.
«I know a good deal of people are considering where I want to play. That is the way it is. This is the way that it is in a top club when you’ve done. There’ll always be rumours.»
