Daniel Ricciardo says Renault made engine ‘statement’ at Italian GP

Following heading the team’s best result because their return to F1 at Monza, daniel Ricciardo reserved special praise for Renault’s engine department.
Ricciardo maintained his highest finish since joining the group , whilst Nico Hulkenberg matched his very best end for Renault after an Italian GP weekend where their automobile consistently ran in the top six with fifth.
When Fernando Alonso won the race and Nelson Piquet Jr finished fourth, the outcome represented the greatest two-car end for a works Renault squad as the 2008 Japanese GP.
Before joining the Enstone group at the start of the calendar year ricciardo, who ran Renault power, stated the manufacturer engine operation deserved the achievement.
«Obviously I am happy for the entire group, but I need to provide a special shout out to the boys at Viry building the engines,» said Ricciardo into Sky Sports F1’s Karun Chandhok.
«To find the very best group result, here in Monza on a power circuit, since 2008 is a true statement. They copped a great deal of grief and they’ve made some huge profits this season on the energy unit. This one’s for them.»
The big 22-point haul from Monza may serve to kickstart what up to then had been an season. Renault have proceeded into fifth place in the Constructors’ Championship and closed in fourth to within 18 points of McLaren.
«Because Canada we hadn’t really got the most result out of it,» said Ricciardo, who stopped a three-race run with no points.
«I really believe we had been a fourth-placed vehicle now. Seb (Vettel) gave us a tiny help, but once we had been in fourth I feel we had that pace.»
Asked if they can now maintain such a degree of functionality, Ricciardo responded:»I really wish we could and hope we can.
«We are coming around unique circuits – high-downforce Singapore, road circuit, bumpy – but despite the fact that this is Monza and it’s unique and you take all the wing away, I definitely think there is something we can nevertheless learn from this.»
Team boss Cyril Abiteboul described the weekend as»a protest after Montreal and Spa the obvious improvement of the group and in particular on the energy unit side that’s been so openly criticised previously».
«It’s a demonstration that everything is liquid using a competitive package,» added the Frenchman. «It is also an invitation to repeat these kinds of emotions, when our season was far from a smooth ride so far. Our drivers show what they can do using a competitive car.»
