Following the New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros have been fighting it out in a tie for weeks today for the top spot in vegas and World Series betting sites, we finally have a lone top-dog at the chances: the Houston Astros, the 2017 World Series Champions.
Only a week, all three groups were placed in a tie with +500 odds, and the Astros have shot up to the top. In other developments within this warfare, the Dodgers have also shot over the Yankees — Los Angeles is put at +400, while New York is currently at +550. Expect this struggle to continue for the remainder of the year however, all three are amazingly dominant and have been displaying amazing baseball up to now in 2019.
However, the Astros are the best spot for several reasons:
1. They have won nine out of their past 10, dominating opposition while at it.
2. They are a mega 29-15 and 7.5 games ahead of the Seattle Mariners to the best place in the American League West.
3. They’re an incredible 16-4 at home, almost unbeatable at Minute Maid Park. Needless to say, these boys are enjoying some baseball as of late.
A group that has had everybody confused this season has been the Boston Red Sox, a team who got off to a horrible start, even placing themselves at 6-13 at a point in the season. But the Red Sox have gotten things together, plus they have finally eclipsed themselves within the .500 mark. It took until May to do it, but it finally occurred. They place at 23-20 on this season, so far. Now that they’ve gotten that monkey from their back, the question is: Can they repeat as World Series Champions?
Well, of course, they can. Boston has one of the best starting pitching rotations in Major League Baseball, and it includes both young talent and veteran leadership. (i.e. Chris Sale striking out 17 batters in seven innings against the Colorado Rockies) The Red Sox pitching will probably have them fighting it out to the top of the American League East before you know it. As a matter of fact, they’ve already dug themselves from an early season — they’re only 4.0 games behind the Tampa Bay Rays for the lead in the AL East, and only 3.5 supporting their rival New York Yankees for second place in the branch. Boston, obviously, dropped from the odds, but they’ve bumped themselves back up to +1000 in Vegas.
Though they have been around quite the slump as of late, a team that you might want to consider for a long shot pick is the 23-21 St. Louis Cardinals and their +1900 odds. The reason for this is because the Cardinals are a really talented team, and are only a couple of great pitchers away from being a legitimate contender for the World Series. And keep in mind, they can get those so-called’good pitchers’ at the trade deadline. If that occurs and their play improves, St. Louis will shoot up in the odds and you’ll regret not taking them at +1900. Go ahead, take the opportunity and place a tiny cash on these can’t hurt. Additionally, it’s the St. Louis Cardinals, a company which has shown itself able to acquire World Series after World Series.
The San Diego Padres were totally dreadful last year tallying a 66-96 record, and consequently, that the Padres will come in with an insane +4500 amount in the likelihood to begin 2019. From the offseason, however, San Diego would have to work. They’d bring in a load of gift, including Manny Machado and his 10-year, $300 million contract. It resembles the significant risks have paid off: They now sit with a winning 22-21 listing and have put themselves at +4000, even hitting as large as +2200 in the odds. Let us be fair here, the Padres aren’t winning the World Series, but it could be a fun wager to put — particularly if they make a wonder run, which we’ve seen happen earlier in sports, particularly baseball.
