We are all used to viewing NFL action on Sundays? Well, one Sunday match in Week 3 of the preseason and it’s going to be the final afternoon of Sunday NFL until Week 1 of the regular season. That is because all groups play on Thursday in Week 4. The Pittsburgh Steelers go to the Tennessee Titans to shut 3.
Both just missed the playoffs and ended with nine wins last regular season. The Titans could have promised a Wild-Card spot if they’d won Week 17 at home vs. Indianapolis, but the Colts were clearly superior and rolled to a 33-17 victory. Starting Titans QB Marcus Mariota missed the game hurt and Blaine Gabbert was awful in his location.
Pittsburgh had a Week 17 win over Cincinnati and also a Baltimore home loss to Cleveland to accept the AFC North. Pittsburgh did its job with a victory — without star receiver Antonio Brown in his final act of defiance using the franchise. The Ravens did not cooperate with a 26-24 win over the Browns.
Despite not enjoying beginning QB Ben Roethlisberger steelers coach Mike Tomlin is 2-0 this year and a really solid 30-22 in his preseason career. The Steelers played their first two edging Tampa Bay 30-28 in Week 1 last week, and then beating Kansas City 17-7. Going by the history of Tomlin, Big Ben ought to play with a bit on Sunday. Mason Rudolph and joshua Dobbs are currently competing for the project, with most.
Titans coach Mike Vrabel is 1-1 this season — Tennessee has yet to win a home exhibition game. The Titans lost 22-17 at home to New England but led all the game and subsequently were first Week 1 winners in Philadelphia 27-10. A TD pass won it to the Pats. Mariota and the Titans first-team crime has played four series so far for Vrabel but could the whole first half of the one.
Leading running back Derrick Henry has yet to play in the preseason due to a calf injury but did return to practice. If this means that he could go in this , not clear. No. 1 tight end Delanie Walker broke his arm in Week 1 last year and had not played until last week vs. the Patriots. He caught a TD pass from Mariota. The Titans’ offense just isn’t the same with Walker, the greatest tight end in business history. Meanwhile, Mariota’s backup Ryan Tannehill was great this preseason using a 130.8 passer rating, completing 19 of 27 for 214 yards. Some think he can steal the job at some point this year from Mariota.
These groups played Pittsburgh but although in Week 3, in addition at the 2018 preseason. The Steelers won 16-6. Big Ben, which makes his preseason debut of’18, was 11-for-18 for 114 yards and a touchdown. Mariota was 5-for-8 for 43 yards and a pick and didn’t play with a lot. He overlooked for that which could have been a touchdown on the opening drive of Tennessee, wide-open Corey Davis.
We’ll take the Titans here simply as I’m sure they’d like to end that home preseason losing streak.
