Finn Russell says World Cup in Japan should show ‘real Scotland’

Fly-half??Finn Russell??believes the World Cup should show the»Actual Scotland» after a disappointing Six Nations campaign.

With numerous injuries to players proving key for their fifth place finish scotland recorded one victory from the Six Nations.
Gregor Townsend’s squad take in their first match of Pool A – that includes Samoa Russia and hosts Japan – and Russell believes they could get through to the knock-out stage.
«It should be the actual Scotland we see now,» Russell said.
«That is the major point, the World Cup, so if it is not the actual Scotland we view afterward it will be disappointing for each of us.
«On our daily life, if we get things we’re definitely capable of getting from this group. From there it is knock-out rugby and you also take it game by game.
«We’re here to do our job and also provide our best performance. If we stay injury-free I believe we are in a terrific position to do this»
Russell was frustrated with the consistency at the championship of all the side, although scotland completed their Six Nations campaign with a historical draw against England at Twickenham.
«The Six Nations was down and up – it all seemed to be matches of 2 halves,» that the 26-year-old added.
«Against Italy the first half was fantastic, then we let in three late tries. We had a great first time against Ireland also but slipped off again. The England match was like that but in reverse.
«What was frustrating was that we never really managed to devote an 80-minute performance. In a World Cup from the best teams on the planet you need to put in an 80-minute screen every match.»
Scotland will be with no back-rower Jamie Ritchie as he measures his recovery from a broken cheekbone while Exeter’s Sam Skinner has been the only player.
