Other than the performance of Nolan Arenado, this year was a bust to the Colorado Rockies and it isn’t getting.
The Rockies stumbled their way by producing the month in any season when they went and followed the ignominious extend by joining a franchise record when the team dropped 19 of 28 games.
As the Rockies input this three-game set against the top team from the National League, they will hope that beginner rookie Peter Lambert (2-5, 6.63 ERA, 1.63 WHIP) can right the boat after a stretch that has seen Colorado shed 10 of the last 11 contests.
The 22-year-old newcomer has neglected to escape the inning in his previous two appearances, becoming struck. Lambert confronted the Dodgers in starts, surrendering a combined eight runs on 16 hits in innings of work, where LA won 5-4 and 12-8.
The Dodgers have hit a few bumps in the road recently but nothing that will even remotely derail their odds of winning the division and probably capturing the No. 1 seed in the National League when the playoffs roll around.
Los Angeles has dropped five of the eight and avoided getting swept by the Diamondbacks from the desert when Joc Pederson went yard at the top of the inning to give his team a 4-3 extra-innings victory on Sunday.
Walker Buehler (11-3, 3.03 ERA, 1.02 WHIP) will choose the bump today for the Dodgers and he has more than lived up to his paychecks after being selected 24th overall at the 2015 draft.
In his second full season at the big-league degree, Buehler threw the first complete game of his career back on June 21st from the team he’ll face and was named an All-Star. Buehler permitted two runs on three hits and struck out 16 in a 4-2 LA victory.
However, under a week after the 6’2″ right-hander was tagged for seven runs on 13 hits in five-plus innings by exactly the exact identical group he stymied just six days earlier. The Rockies would go on to win this game 12-8 and avenge their loss to the Vanderbilt product.
The MLB chances are prohibitive on the Dodgers and we can not be surprised. Big Blue has an absolute stud although the Rockies are urgently expecting a light will turn on and Peter Lambert will pitch his way without harm through five innings.
I really don’t find that happening despite the recent hiccups of LA but can’t put north of -300, and that’s what the very best internet sportsbooks are requesting on the home favorite.
Instead, I will turn to the run line, realizing LA has won eight of the 10 games against the Rockies. Let’s bet the Dodgers -1 1/2 conducts (-140) in our MLB selections and money that Labor Day ticket!
