The Oakland Raiders have released wide receiver Antonio Brown just two days before the NFL season opener of the team.
Brown was fined following a confrontation with all general manager Mike Mayock on Friday but had been expected to handle the Denver Broncos on Monday.
The news came just hours after Brown posted a message on Instagram that ended:»Publish me @raiders.»
Brown became among the NFL’s highest-paid broad receivers when Oakland was combined by him from Pittsburgh in March.
He arrived from the Steelers to a three-year deal worth more than $50m (#41m) each season.
Brown has not received any money by the Raiders up to now.
Brown’s departure was affirmed by the team in a announcement on their official site.
Brown will now sign for any group as a free agent and isn’t subject to waivers.
«We’re focused on the long run and I will quickly work on signing him to a new team,» Brown’s agent Drew Rosenhaus told NFL.com.
«Antonio is excited about a new start.»
Brown’s release comes at the end of dramatic time for the player.
Since arriving at the Raiders, he has missed time because of accidents to his toes brought on by entering a cryotherapy room.
A period of the off-season then sat out in a battle with the NFL over his helmet.
The altercation between Brown and Mayock led morning, creating an apology at a team meeting on Friday, also finished with the group needing to be physically separated, based on reports.
