It took awhile, but the San Diego Padres will finally get to see one of the offseason acquisitions in action.
As the Padres look to snap a losing streak at the opener of a string at Milwaukee, more Righthand Garrett Richards will pitch with San Diego on Monday.
Richards, who spent his first eight years with the Angels, heading 45-38, 3.66, had Tommy John surgery to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament last June.
The 31-year-old has worked his way backagain. He’s pitched five rehab games with the Padres Rookie and High-A teams, moving 0-1, 10.61 with 13 strikeouts in 9.1 innings. In addition, he walked 11 batters, however.
The Padres’ starting team may use the increase. Although the starters combined, san Diego came off of a horrific weekend giving up 10 or more runs in each game.
Not one starter lasted through four innings, and the rotation allowed 16 runs in 9.1 innings for a 15.43 ERA.

Renfroe took batting practice and is expected to return from a sprained right ankle that’s kept him out more than a week.

That’s remarkable, considering the Brewers were seven games back in the wild card this month, which was before losing their best player.

The Brewers could be close to obtaining baseman Keston Hiura straight right back in the starting lineup. After suffering a strained left hamstring, he pinch hit in September.
The Brewers will send Zach Davies (9-7, 3.77) into the mound. Milwaukee has won his past 3 starts, and he is 3-0, 3.58 in his career against the Padres.
